REFLECTIONS

One life makes a difference!

I was struck by the changes at Glen Nayook a few days ago when we went for a Sunday walk in nature. Glen Nayook is a favourite family spot to walk down to a cool, ancient glen of a flowing stream amongst old tree ferns and majestic native trees. The giant boulders are another sight, as well as listening to the sounds of the birds that call Glen Nayook home. However, some large trees have recently fallen and crashed through the understorey. The change in the landscape is quite drastic in parts and heralds finality of long-lived plant life and space for different, new potential growth. Witnessing the obvious difference that one tree makes to the life around it seemed like an analogy for people and life, especially within family. I was reminded to be self-aware and conscious about the difference I make to myself, my family, and others.

INSPIRED BY NATURE

The Autumn cold is settling in and the rain is on its way with 70 ml falling measured on Tuesday morning.

An Easter picnic with spiced roasted pumpkin and cauliflower salad with pomegranate seeds and spinach, homemade chickpea falafel, and roasted ghee potatoes made for a walming feast shared with family. Wise Earth Ayurveda homemade chutney with peaches created a nice base for a dressing in the rice salad, and to accompany other meals in celebration of the season. I am looking forward to using some local chestnuts in meals soon.
